A small incident that changed my perception of life

  • During my recent trip to Himachal Pradesh, I met a wonderful family of a local shepherd. My homestay was booked at a small property in Manali, which is a beautiful destination for unwinding.

In the morning, I used to walk into the woods and spend some time in a quiet and pleasant environment. One day when I was listening to some soothing music on my compact speaker; here is the link: https://highshop.in/best-bluetooth-speakers-under-2000/. Suddenly, I heard a noise coming from the bushes. When I went closer, I encountered a leopard and simply froze. At that time, I was just about to run but someone from behind told me to stay still. I did as that man instructed me but from within I was scared to death. The man who told me to stay calm was a local shepherd. Later, while interacting he told me that the leopard is a very shy animal and attacks only when it feels threatened or scared. So, it’s best to stay calm and give the animal its own time to wander around and go away. When we were moving back, the kind shepherd also invited me to come over to his place for tea. At his house, I met his old parents, his wife, and two kids. All were very generous and offered me tea with some local snacks.

After meeting the shepherd’s family, I realized that in cities where we have everything we feel annoyed if someone comes to our houses uninvited. But in small regions where livelihood resources are limited, people are so generous and welcoming. This incident has changed my entire perception of life and the people around us.

  • JD Aliix Isn't it just amazing and beautiful how small incidents can be so big? Although, in my world, encountering a leopard wouldn't be so small! More Sameera, more!
